The Rocks had a great day at semi-state advancing 3 wrestlers to the state finals next weekend at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Sophomore Porter Temples had a hard fought win in round 1, winning 4-1. Temples then followed-up with a second period pin in the quarter finals to punch his ticket to the state finals. Porter placed 4th at semi-state and becomes just the 4th underclassman, in school history, to qualify for the state finals. Senior Ike O’Neill had a dominant performance in round 1 winning 15-1. Ike then strung together 2 more wins to reach the championship match for the 2nd consecutive year and made his way back to the state finals. Senior Jason Rooney rounded out the group of 3 state qualifiers. Jason had some gutsy wins in round 1 and 2 and eventually going 2-2 on the day and placing 4th. The state finals will be next Friday and Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Come cheer on your Rocks!
