The Westfield Junior Varsity football team opened the season with a resounding victory by shutting out the visiting New Palestine Dragons. The Rocks defense played everyone and everyone contributed. Overall, the defense was led by Cam Echard, play of the day, an interception that set the tone for the day. The consistent play of players like Joe Franco allowed the Rocks to keep the visitors out of the end zone all day. Special teams was not only special but perfect, as well. Led by Parker Knott and the consistent snapping of Quinn Hampton the FG/PAT converted all of their opportunities to help out in the scoring. The offense was led by Jon Alberta and the offensive line. Stellar play by QB Jackson Gilbert kept the offense moving all day. The play of the day came on a pass and TD from Gilbert to Zeke Richardson. The JV Rocks football team will be in action again next Saturday, August 27, at Lawrence Central.
