Girls Cross Claims First Sectional Title Since 2007

The road to state began on Saturday for the Westfield girls' cross country team, competing in the IHSAA Sectional at Noblesville. The Shamrocks had a great day on the course and came away as Sectional Champions! Westfield bested a competitive field to win the sectional with 62 points over runner-up Fishers with 68 points and 3rd place Noblesville with 70. The Rocks placed 5 in the top 20 on their way to the sectional championship, the team's first since 2007! Alivia Lozier was Westfield's first finisher, placing 2nd overall in a time of 18:00. Lozier was also runner-up in the 2024 sectional. Senior Jordyn Landrum had a spectacular race for the Rocks, placing 9th in 19:29 to help solidify the championship run. Westfield's 3 remaining scorers, Jenna Burns (15th), Emma Pitney (19th), and Mackenna Condon (20th), were all able to finish in the top 20 to earn All-Sectional honors. Gianna Ferreri (26th) and Ella Bozarth (28th) rounded out the lineup for the Shamrocks. After placing as one of the top 5 teams, the Rocks will advance to the next round of the IHSAA Tournament. Westfield will take the next step on the road to state and compete Saturday in the Shelbyville Regional as they look to advance to the state meet! Go Rocks!
