This past weekend, Westfield cross country hosted the Flashrock Invitational held at Northview Church in Carmel. The Rocks also held a senior ceremony to cap off the meet and recognize our amazing seniors for their years of dedication to the Westfield cross country programs. On the course, the Rocks placed 3rd as a team in the varsity race with 135 points behind top ranked Carmel and another top team in Homestead. Alivia Lozier led the way for Westfield with a 5th place finish in a time of 17:49 on the tough Northview course. The Rocks remaining scorers all finished in the top 40 as Jenna Burns (27th), Mackenna Condon (33rd), Jordyn Landrum (35th) and Emma Pitney (39th) rounded out the scoring to aid in the 3rd place team finish. In the JV race, the weather was heating up as Westfield again came away with a 3rd place team finish. Claudia Southworth led the way for the Rocks in the JV race as she placed 8th in a time of 21:30. Sophia Grisel had a strong race as well placing 17th in a time of 22:14. Remaining scorers for the Rocks included Elle Meyers (22nd), Ava Brandau (24th), and Annalisa Schuth (42nd). Thank you again to our seniors for their hard work and dedication they have provided to Westfield Girls Cross Country over the last four years! The Shamrocks will compete next at Brownsburg in the HCC Championships on Saturday September 27th. Go Rocks!
