Girls Lacrosse Wins 2A Sectional Over Heritage Christian

The #8 Lady Rocks Varsity Lacrosse team won their 2A sectional game defeating Heritage Christian 14-6 on Saturday at Westfield High School. This marks their first 2A sectional game since being promoted from 1A this season. The Lady Rocks are 3-1 in their last 4 games heading into a showdown with #1 Carmel in the State quarterfinals on Friday. The defense was led by Jazmine Gonzalez in goal with 11 saves and 2 ground balls along with defenders Annie Hamilton (2 ground balls, 3 forced turnovers), Ella Lowery (2 ground balls, 1 fleeced turnover), Zoe Milewski (1 ground ball, 2 forced turnovers and 1 interception), Liz Carney, Addison Fisher, Marta Gonzalez and Taelyn Russell. The attack goal scoring was led by Lauren Dean (5 goals, 1 assist, 2 ground balls, 3 forced turnovers and 1 interception), Molly O’Brien (3 goals, 2 assists, 3 ground balls and 1 forced turnover), Kayla Reis (2 goals, 2 assists, 1 draw control and 2 ground balls), Charley Kocsis (2 goals, 1 assist, 3 ground balls and 1 forced turnover), Ally Weirick (1 goal, 2 assists and 1 forever turnover), and Hannah Cavalcanti (1 goal, 1 assist, 3 ground balls and 2 forced turnovers), Riley O’Brien (1 ground ball), Kloe Fosnaugh and Kenzie Reis. The team is averaging 11.2 goals, 6.9 assists, 10.5 draw controls, 21.4 ground balls, 8.5 forced turnovers and 2.2 interceptions per game heading into the State quarterfinals.
