On Friday, your Rocks hosted the Noblesville Millers for the Midland Rail rivalry trophy, earning a 41-7 victory. The win extends their record to 3-1 (2-0 HCC). Westfield started on defense, and Alex Macdonald put a quick stop to the brief Miller advance by sacking the quarterback. Aiden Grabowski then carved up the Millers with several connections through the air before Deacon King capped the drive with a score (Diego Herrera kick). The Rock D held the Millers to a three-and-out on the next possession, and Westfield took over after a short punt. Cooper Melvin found Broc Parker for the score for that drive (Herrera kick), extending the Shamrock lead. After another Miller punt, the Rocks took the ball and a 14-0 lead into the second quarter. Westfield settled for a field goal this time, with Herrera chipping it in from close to bump the lead to 17. The Rock D stymied the Millers yet again, and Melvin found Andrew Noble on the subsequent drive for the score (Herrera kick). After a string of scoring drives, Westfield finally traded punts with the Millers with 58 seconds to go in the half. A short Shamrock punt seemed to set Noblesville up for a potential score, but Ja’Deon Smith broke through the Miller line to strip the football from the quarterback and recover the fumble for the Rocks. The Shamrock offense strung together a few chunk plays to set up another Herrera chip shot, and the Rocks went into the break with a 27-0 lead. Westfield received the ball to start the second half, and they quickly marched down the field for another score, with Parker running it in this time (Herrera kick). Macdonald added a second big sack on the night as the Rock D continued to prevent the Millers from doing much of anything. Melvin found Caiden Snow for a score near the end of the third (Herrera kick) and with the scoreboard showing 41-0, a running clock was initiated. The Rocks took the lead into the fourth, making some substitutions. Noblesville was able to put together one long drive that ate most of the time in the fourth and resulted in their lone score of the night. 41-7 would end up as the final. Your Rocks will look to remain unbeaten in conference play next Friday when they travel to Hamilton Southeastern to face the Royals. HSE will be coming off a loss to rival Fishers, sporting a 3-1 overall record (1-1 HCC). Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm.
