JV White Rocks Come Out on Top vs Royals

The Shamrocks went back and forth with Hamilton Southeastern on Wednesday night. But ultimately were able to come out on top 7-6. The game was tied 5-5 going into the bottom of the 6th inning when Gavin Humburg tripled scoring 1 run. Luke Russell then doubled scoring Humburg. The Shamrocks were up 7-5 going into the top of the seventh. They needed 3 outs to end the game but Hamilton Southeastern was able to load the bases with no outs. Collin Kern came out from the bullpen with bases loaded and no outs. The first batter hit a ball to centerfield and the runner scored on a sacrifice fly. The score was now 7-6 with one out and runners on second and third. Kern managed to get a ground ball hit back to him for the out at first. Kern then was able to induce a pop fly to shortstop Phillip Jacobs for the third out, ending the game 7-6. The Shamrocks had 8 hits on the day. Luke Russell and Gavin Humburg each had 2 hits. Cory Wilhelm, Broc Parker, Gavin Russ, and Brady Bafia each had 1 hit. Wilhelm had an inside the park homerun today. Wilhelm started on the mound going 5 innings, allowing 4 hits on 3 runs and 2 strikeouts. Michael Morris came in relief for 1 inning, allowing 2 hits, on 3 runs, and 2 strikeouts. Kern closed the game with the save going 1 inning with no hits and no runs scored. The Shamrocks are on a 3 game win streak and look to sweep Hamilton Southeastern Thursday May 11th
