The Westfield JV Shamrocks returned to action this Saturday and came away with a HCC victory over the visiting Zionsville Eagles 35-17 to improve their record to 3-0 and 1-0 in conference play. The Rocks came out fast and jumped on the Eagles early in the first half by leading 33-3 at halftime. All 3 phases of the game were executed at a high level and contributed to the win. Offensively, the Rocks were led by players of the game TE Max Vandegriff and OL Allen Pierce. RB Maison McCray and OL Joseph Mavrick help anchor the offense with consistent play throughout the game. The big play came when QB Ben Kooi hit Dre Gant on a beautiful throw and catch to extend the Rocks lead. Defensively, the team was led by player of the game Adrian Feltrinelli who was making plays all over the field in defending both the run and pass game. Niko Lent provided steady play from his LB position to earn himself Mr. Consistency. The big play came during the game when Cooper Greer picked off the Eagles QB and set up the Rocks with good field position. On special teams, both Maddox Novotney and Cooper Greer gave great effort and execution and earned player of the game honors. Will Marciniec and John Bunch contributed to multiple special teams units and were consistent all game long. The big plays came by the KO team and pinning the Eagles deep in their own territory multiple times. The Shamrocks look to stay unbeaten when they visit the Noblesville Millers on Saturday, September 13th for a 10 AM kick.
