Westfield girls cross country competed on Saturday at the Hamilton County championships at the Chinquapin cross country course in Noblesville. The always competitive Hamilton County meet provided a great day of races across the board. The varsity race saw the Rocks get off to a hot start as Westfield put 6 runners in the top 20 of the race led by Alivia Lozier's 3rd place finish in a time of 17:42. Lozier's time breaks her own school record of 17:47 that she previously ran at last year's sectional also at Noblesville. The Rocks next 5 runners all placed in the top 20 earning All-County honors. Freshmen Jenna Burns was 12th in 18:53 in her first career high school 5k race. Jordyn Landrum placed 13th in a career best race with a time of 19:03. The remaining Westfield runners placing in the top 20 were Mackenna Condon in 15th, Emma Pitney in 18th, and Gianna Ferreri in 19th. Westfield placed second overall as a team in a strong field only behind a strong Carmel team that placed 5 runners in the top 11 of the race. In the junior varsity race, the Rocks had some strong performances on their way to a 3rd place team finish. The race of the day went to junior Lyla Osborn who placed 2nd in a NEW PR of 20:32 and had a strong finish that brought her from 6th to 2nd in the last 200 meters. Three more Rocks finished in the top 20 as Sofia Grisel, Cameron Goodwin, and Claudia Southworth finished in 17th, 18th, and 19th place respectively all under 21:30. Senior Delaney Curtis also had a really strong race effort to run a new PR time of 22:06 placing 34th. The Shamrocks showed up to county ready to take advantage of the great weather and competition and did just that with two strong team races. Westfield girls cross country will next compete at Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday September 6th. Go Rocks!
