JV White Baseball Defeats Flashes 14-13

The Westfield Shamrocks JVW defeated Franklin Central 14-13 on Thursday thanks to a walk-off double. The game was tied at 13 with The Shamrocks batting in the bottom of the seventh when Aiden Grabowski doubled on a 0-1 count with 2 outs, scoring one run. It was a back and forth affair for The Rocks Thursday evening. The Rocks got their offense started in the second inning when Gavin Russ singled scoring 1 run and a sacrifice fly by Phillip Jacobs scored 1 run as well. Franklin Central answered in the top of the 3rd scoring 3 runs. Both teams scored 1 run in the 4th inning. In the 5th inning The Franklin Central Flashes scored 6 runs. The Shamrocks then answered in the bottom of the 5th scoring 7 runs led by Brady Bafia, Phillip Jacobs, Willem Weidner, James Kovacs, and Luke Russell, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. The game was tied at 10-10 in the 6th inning when The Flashes scored 1 run. Again the Shamrocks continued to fight scoring 3 runs when Corey Wilhelm tripled scoring Aiden Grabowski and Brady Bafia. The score was 13-11 going into the top of the 7th and The Shamrocks had the lead. The Flashes were able to score 2 more runs in the top of the 7th tying the game at 13-13. With 2 players on base and 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th and the score tied, it looks as if the game were going into extra innings. Until Aiden Grabowski hits a massive shot to right field off the wall scoring Luke Russell to end the game 14-13. Kovacs got the win for The Shamrocks. Kovacs surrendered two runs on three hits over one inning, striking out one and walking zero. A number of pitchers entered the game as relief, with Derek Meder, Jacob Shearer, Michael Morris, and Garrett Tucker all securing outs and ultimately the victory. Grabowski started the game for The Shamrocks. The lefty went two innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out three. The Shamrocks JVW racked up 11 hits. Grabowski and Russ all managed multiple hits and Kovacs, Russell, Broc Parker, Clayton Walther, Brady Bafia, Corey Wilhelm, and Phillip Jacobs each had 1 hit.
