The Westfield Girls Track an Field team got the postseason started by competing in the IHSAA Sectionals last night at Hamilton Southeastern High School. The Rocks had many great performances and will see lots of athletes advance to the regional. The 4x800 relay team of Mackenna Condon, Maggie Naas, Jordyn Landrum, and Alivia Lozier got the night started with a 4th place finish in a time of 9:38 and will get the first callback time and advance to the regional. The 4x100 relay team of Melody Miller, Ella Jenkins, Josie Vondersaar, and Gracie Czubik placed 5th overall in 50.18 and have a great chance to be in the callbacks to the regional as well. The Rocks will be heavily represented at the regional in field events as we saw great performances from our high jumpers and pole vaulters. Gracie Czubik placed 2nd in the high jump matching her career best of 5'3" and automatically advances to the regional. Jolie Miller placed 4th and will also get a callback to the regional. Ella Jenkins placed 3rd in the pole vault matching her season best of 11'0" and Alex Hamilton placed 4th and is in a great position for another callback spot to the regional. Two more automatic regional qualifying performances on the night came first from the 3200 as Alivia Lozier placed 3rd in a competitive race in a time of 10:53 which lowers her own outdoor school record by 2 seconds. The 4x400 relay was our final regional qualifier and finished off the meet for us in incredible fashion when the team of Jordyn Landrum, LeAsia Warren, LeBraya Warren, and Gracie Czubik placed 3rd in a time of 3:59.04 to earn the auto bid. Westfield will be well represented at the Lafayette Jeff. Regional on Tuesday May 27th. Come out and support the Rocks as we continue the road to state!
