JV White Rocks Fall to Raiders

Connor Smith collected three hits in four at bats, but Westfield JVW Rocks lost to Harrison 8-7 on Friday. Smith hit a solo home run to center field in the seventh inning, doubled in the first inning, and singled in the fifth inning. Westfield JVW Rocks fell behind by four runs in the second inning, but then tried to fight back. Westfield JVW Rocks closed the gap by scoring on a single, a double, a single, a single, and a solo home run. Westfield JVW Rocks were the first to get on the board in the first when Smith doubled, scoring one run. Westfield JVW Rocks captured the lead, 6-5, in the top of the fifth when Barrett Fuller doubled, scoring one run, Smith singled, scoring one run, and James Knight singled, scoring two runs. Westfield JVW Rocks scored one run in the top of the seventh on a solo home run to center field by Smith on an 0-2 count. Colton Knotts pitched three innings in relief for Westfield JVW Rocks. The hurler gave up one hit and zero runs while, striking out one and walking none. Ben Vollmer stepped on the bump first for Westfield JVW Rocks. The pitcher gave up six hits and five runs (three earned) over two innings, striking out two and walking one. Westfield JVW Rocks accumulated nine hits in the game. Fuller collected two hits for Westfield JVW Rocks in four at bats. Jack Stuckey, Brayden Schrock, and Owen Watts each had one hit.
