JV White Falls to Carmel 2-3

The defending Hamilton County Tournament Champions, Westfield Shamrocks JVW, took a hard fought loss against the Carmel Greyhounds in the season opener. James Kovacs started the game for the Westfield Shamrocks JVW. The lefty allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out five. The Greyhounds got their bats going in the top of the 4th inning and managed to score 2 runs. The Shamrocks answered in the bottom of the 5th on a single by Cade Defendis scoring 1. The game remained at 2-1 after a tough top of the 7th inning bases loaded with no outs for the Greyhounds. Thompson Mckay was able to duel his way into getting a ground ball double play and another ground out to end the inning keeping the Greyhounds at bay. The game looked to be over in the bottom of the 7th until James Kovacs singled with 2 outs and Brady Bafia got hit by pitch. Cade Defendis then singled to right field scoring 1 ultimately tying the game at 2-2. The Shamrocks entered extra innings at the top of the 8th when the Greyhounds managed to put 1 run on the board. The Shamrocks fought hard in the bottom of the 8th with a lead off double by Aiden Grabowski. Ultimately the Carmel Greyhounds were able to hold Grabowski at 3rd base without scoring and secured the win in extra innings. Cade Defendis was 3-4 with 2rbis for the day. Aiden Grabowski, James Kovacs, and Luke Russell each collected 2 hits.
