The Westfield Boys Track and Field team went to Zionsville Friday night for the very competitive 10 team Zionsville Invite, coming away with a 2nd place finish, a two meet records and 2 new school records, and a milestone broken. While there were many great individual performances in the meet for the Rocks, the three relays were the story of the meet. First the 4x800 relay of Maxim Poirier, Luke Moulder, Ty Conner, and Caleb Haney set a new meet record with a season-best 7:54 to win the event. They are currently ranked #2 in the state. Then the 4x100 relay of Maison McCray, Caleb Terril, Cayden Gearhart, and Cato June set a new school record of 42.03, the 7th best time in the state this year. Then, with 2nd place in the meet on the line, the 4x400 stepped up to run a blistering 3:19.43. That won the event, and set a meet record, the school record. It is the first sub 3:20 relay in school history, and the 3rd nest time in Indiana so far this season. The other highlight of the meet was another meet champion, with Will Snedeker's 1:55.54 winning the 800. There were many other great performances including Ty Conner doubling back from the 4x800 to finish 2nd in the 3200, Maxim Poirier also doubling back from the 4x800 to finish 2nd in the 400, Alex Wilson (2nd in the PV), and Robert Campbell (2nd in the HJ and 7th in the LJ). Other scorers included Cato June (4th) and Maison McCray (8th) in the 100, Caleb Terril (6th) in the 200, and Logan Tuck (6th) in the 100 hurdles. The Shamrocks have two meet nest week. Much of the team will cap its season Monday at Carmel in the JV Invitational, while the varsity gears up for the HCC Championships next Thursday at Avon.
