Adelyn Kurth collected four hits in six at bats, as the Westfield Shamrocks defeated Yorktown 12-1 on Thursday. Kurth doubled in the sixth inning, singled in the fifth inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the fourth inning. A triple by Olivia Sampia put Westfield on the board in the bottom of the first. The Shamrocks added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Kaylee Graff singled down the left field line, Sampia tripled to right field, and Ali Kainrath singled, each scoring one run. The Shamrocks scored six runs on three hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Kainrath doubled, scoring one run, Kennedy Stoecker hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, Kurth singled, scoring one run, and an error scored one run. Graff stepped in the circle first for Westfield. The starter allowed two hits and one run over four and one-third innings, striking out four and walking three. Kurth threw one and two-thirds innings of zero-run ball for the Shamrocks in relief. Kurth surrendered zero hits, striking out one and walking none. Westfield amassed 13 hits in the game. Kainrath, Sampia, Graff, and Elaina Bottorff each collected multiple hits for the Shamrocks. The team turned one double play in the game.
