Varsity Baseball Defeats Brownsburg

The Shamrocks closed out their HCC series with Brownsburg on Friday at home. Brownsburg struck first and with a fury, scoring five runs in the first inning. Luke Collinsworth entered the game and shut down the Bulldogs from there, not allowing a run the rest of the way to give the Rocks offense a chance to come back and come back they did scoring nine unanswered runs the rest of the way to win 9-5. Luke Collinsworth was simply outstanding on the mound in relief, pitching six innings while allowing just two hits, no walks and striking out 12 to earn the win. Corey Wilhelm pitched .2 innings of scoreless relief as well. Offensively, the Rocks continued to produce, pounding out 10 hits in the game. Matt Drozlek was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI, Lincoln Hoffman was 1 for 1 with 2 RBI, Nick Fero was 2 for 4 with a triple and a RBI, Beck Jordan was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI, Johnny Ewing was 1 for 1 with a RBI and Drew Law was 2 for 3. Anthony Cimini had a double on the day as well. The Rocks move to 9-1 (4-0 in HCC) and are tied for first place in the HCC with Fishers. They will host the Tigers in a pivotal HCC series next Thursday at Shamrock Field at 6p.
