The 7th ranked Rocks hosted the Cathedral Irish Wednesday night. The game was scoreless until the 4th inning when Senior Johnny Ewing opened the scoring with a 2 RBI single to give the Rocks a 2-0 lead. Drew Law also singled in the 4th to extend the lead to 4-0. From there the Rocks defense and Sam Flickinger on the mound held the Irish in check. Defensively, Westfield turned three double plays to take Cathedral out of any offensive opportunities. Flickinger was magnificent on the mound, pitching 6.2 innings while only allowing 4 hits, no walks and striking out 4 to earn the win. Ian Wilson closed the game out with a strikeout. The win puts the Rocks at 7-1 overall and 2-0 in HCC play. Westfield will travel to Brownsburg tomorrow to open a HCC series with the Bulldogs.
