Lady Rocks Fall to Trojans in Walk-Off Fashion

The Rocks Varsity softball team Lose To Center Grove A walk-off left the Rocks on the wrong end of a 3-2 defeat to Center Grove on Saturday. The game was tied at two in the bottom of the eighth when the winning run scored. A single by Ava Kainrath put Westfield Varsity on the board in the top of the first inning. Sofia Easterhaus hit a sacrifice fly, which helped Westfield Varsity tie the game at two in the top of the fifth. Mackenzie Delph took the loss for the Rocks while pitching very well. The pitcher went four and two-thirds innings, surrendering one run (zero earned) on four hits, striking out two and walking three. Shea Vohs began the game for the Rocks. She gave up six hits and two runs over three innings, striking out none and walking one. Easterhaus set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Westfield Varsity with two hits in three at bats. Chloe Tanner and Makayla Watson made a couple of spectacular plays in the game defensively for the Rocks. Tanner with a diving catch and Watson threw out two runners from the outfield, one being at home plate. Next game for the Rocks is at Franklin Central on Tuesday.
