Girls Track and Field Opens Outdoor Season at Brownsburg

The Westfield Shamrocks began the outdoor track and field season competing at Brownsburg against the conference rival Bulldogs and came away with the first team victory of the season! Westfield won by a score of 64-54 as the Shamrocks came away with many individual event winners and winning both contested relays on the evening. Individual event winners for Westfield included Emily Loiselle in the 1600, Clara Isaacs in the 800 racing to a 6 second personal best of 2:36.6, Paige Lemieux in the pole vault, Julia Syljebeck in the high jump, and a tie for first among Shamrock teammates in the long jump with Morgan Guerrieri and Sophie Croft leaping the same 15'2" as their best mark on the evening. The Shamrocks won both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays to add to the point total. Westfield's 4x100 team members included Sophie Croft, Lucy Miles, Chloe Stuart, and Morgan Guerrieri. Westfield's 4x400 relay closed out the night with a solid performance as Clara Isaacs, Ava Britton-Heitz, Elle Meyers, and Amari Merritt came through with the win to clinch the team victory! Others scoring points for the Shamrocks include Makena Schwerin (2nd in 100 hurdles, 3rd in 300 hurdles), Carly Davis (3rd in 1600), Emmie Barker (2nd in 400), Claire Weddige (3rd in 400), Desi King (2nd in 300 hurdles), Maryn Babb (2nd in 800), Ella Jenkins (2nd in 200 and pole vault), Jolie Miller (2nd in high jump), and Elizabeth Sierra-Visoso (3rd in pole vault). Congratulations to all on a great opening night of the outdoor season! Westfield will be back in action again this Saturday for the HSR Finals at the State Fairgrounds. Go Rocks!
