JV Green Softball Defeats Greyhounds

Olivia Sampia drove in four runs on three hits to lead Westfield JVG past Carmel 16-0 on Wednesday. The Rocks got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Ali Kainrath hit a sacrifice fly, Sampia doubled, Alyvia Browne singled, Ava Weiderhaft singled, and the Rocks scored on a passed ball, each scoring one run. A single by Kaylee Graff extended the Rocks lead to 6-0 in the bottom of the second inning. A double by Adelyn Kurth extended the Rocks lead to 8-0 in the bottom of the third inning. The Rocks scored eight runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Browne doubled, Elaina Bottorff singled, Kurth hit a sacrifice fly, and Sampia homered to left field scoring three runs. Sampia started the game in the circle for the Rocks. She gave up zero hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out six and walking one. Kurth pitched one inning in relief allowing zero runs, one hit, and struck out one. Westfield tallied 14 hits in the game. Cam Pulice and Sampia each collected three hits. Weiderhaft and Browne also collected multiple hits.
