The Shamrocks concluded the HSR qualifying season on Saturday with the Pike Last Chance Qualifier meet at the University of Indianapolis. Westfield had a solid day including two event champions and many other great performances. Starting on the track, Claudia Southworth and Vivienne Lyon ran solid times in the 3200 as they came across the line less than half a second apart with Southworth placing 9th in a new season best time of 12:38.9 and Lyon setting a new PR over 3200 meters placing 11th in 12:39.01. Presley Perkins made her season debut in the 60 meter dash by racing to a time of 8.49 before also contributing a 400 leg to the 7th place DMR later in the meet. The Shamrock relay squads placed well on the day. Starting with the 4x800 relay team of Gianna Ferreri, Ella Bozarth, Lina Abriani, and Carly Davis placing 2nd in 10:14. Then the DMR squad of Ava Britton-Heitz, Presley Perkins, Emily Loiselle, and Maryn Babb placed 7th, and the 4x400 relay team of Emmie Barker, Katelyn Eblen, Gianna Ferreri, and Lina Abriani placed 4th. Westfield had another great day in the field events where we found our two event winners on the day. Alex Hamilton won her 2nd meet in a row in the Pole Vault after hitting a new personal best mark of 11'6" to take the win. Katelyn Eblen won her first career meet in the high jump after hitting a jump of 5 feet and tying another competitor for the win. In the long jump, Morgan Guerrieri continued her strong start to the season by earning another PR while jumping 15'8.75" to place 9th. The Shamrocks will open the outdoor season on Thursday as they travel to Brownsburg for a dual meet against the Bulldogs. Go Rocks!
