Westfield Track and Field competed last night at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in the Hoosier Crossroads Conference Indoor Championships. The Shamrocks took advantage of the great facility in Indianapolis and came away with some amazing performances! In the 3200, Gianna Ferreri got the scoring started for the Shamrocks after placing 8th in a new season best time of 11:59 just going under the 12 minute barrier. Carly Davis placed right behind Ferreri in 9th while racing to a new PR of 12:01, 22 seconds faster than her last 3200 race only 10 days prior at IWU. The track was running fast and our relays were ready to light up the track. Starting with the 4x800 meter relay team of Mackenna Condon, Jordyn Landrum, Alivia Lozier, and Maggie Naas that placed 3rd in a really competitive race in a time of 9:27.31, just off of the indoor school record relay from 2007. The relays time of 9:27 is currently ranked 4th in the HSR Qualifying standings. Another relay made their mark in the HSR Qualifying standings when the 4x400 relay team of Mackenna Condon, Maggie Naas, Jordyn Landrum, and LeBraya Warren raced to a time of 4:04.71 good for the 9th best time in the current HSR standings. The time is just a second off of the Westfield Indoor school record in the 4x400 relay. The 4x200 relay team also had a wonderful performance on the night as the team of LeBraya Warren, LeAsia Warren, Katelyn Eblen, and Gracie Czubik raced to a time of 1:46.93, a mark that is in a position to qualify for the HSR Finals. The Shamrocks also had some incredible performances in the field events. Senior Alex Hamilton was our lone conference champion on the evening after winning the Pole Vault with a new personal best of 11'3". Paige Lemieux also had a great night on the vault placing 4th with a mark of 10'6" The high jump duo of Gracie Czubik and Katelyn Eblen both scored for Westfield as Czubik placed 3rd with a new PR jump of 5'3" and Eblen placed 6th with a new PR jump of 5'2" with both jumpers in a position to qualify for the HSR Finals. Czubk also had a good day in the long jump pit after her last attempt came through with a 17'1.5" leap to place 3rd. Great job to all the Shamrocks that competed at the HCC Indoor meet. Westfield is back in action on Saturday for a "Last Chance Qualifer" at the University of Indianapolis. Go Rocks!
