Westfield Girls Track and Field started the season off on a great note competing at Indiana Wesleyan on Friday night in the first HSR Qualifier of the season. A trio of Shamrocks in the 3200 meter run got us started as Vivienne Lyon, Izzy McCulloch, and Claudia Southworth all had wonderful performances in their first races of the season. All three finished under 13 minutes including Lyon's time of 12:40 in her first 3200 meter race ever. Staying on the track, a trio of freshmen took on the 60 meter dash as Melody Miller, Desi King, and Lucy Miles all were able to break 9 seconds in their Westfield Track and Field debuts. In a relay style heavy meet, the Shamrock relays had some solid performances as the 4x800 relay of Lina Abriani, Charlotte Isaacs, Clara Isaacs, and Brooke Bognar placed 2nd in a time of 10:38, the distance medley relay of Maryn Babb, Chloe Stuart, Elle Meyers, and Sam Plummer placed 4th in 14:29, and the 4x400 relay of Abriani, Ch. Isaacs, Cl. Isaacs, and Meyers placed 5th in 4:34. The field events saw a few shamrocks place really well during the night as Elizabeth Sierra-Visoso placed 2nd in the pole vault with a performance of 8 feet and returning state qualifier in the high jump Gracie Czubik placed 3rd in the event clearing 5'2" matching her best performance from 2024. It was a great opening night of the 2025 season for the Shamrocks! Westfield will be back in action on Saturday for day two of the IWU HSR qualifiers. Go Rocks!
