The Varsity Rocks lost a tough one to the Avon Orioles in an HCC conference game on Friday night. Avon jumped out to an early 18-10 lead after the first quarter, but the Rocks bounced back in the second quarter and closed the gap to five points by halftime. Avon came out hot in the 3rd quarter, and the Rocks dug themselves into a big hole, trailing by as many as 15 points. The Rocks woke up later in the third quarter, and started a furious comeback. With under a minute to go in the game, they cut the Avon lead to one point. Avon scored on their next possession, and the Rocks got a decent look at a three pointer to tie the game, but it wouldn't go down. Alex Romack led the team with 19 points, and Trey Buchanan had 15. Sam Bishop had 9 points and 10 rebounds, including 8 offensive rebounds, for a near double double. Seth LaRavia also contributed 9 points.
