Your Freshman Shamrocks returned from Winter Break Saturday night in a heavyweight bout with the Carmel Greyhounds. Having had gone 24 calendar days between games, the Shamrocks started off a bit rusty. Down 12-16 at the half, and unable to make an outside shot, the Rocks looked within themselves at halftime. The tides turned when Max Vandegriff took his first three point attempt of the season. SWISH. Max's 3 changed the momentum and led a 3rd quarter run that put the Rocks up for a few minutes in the quarter. What then became a back and forth game throughout the fourth quarter had the game tied with under a minute to go. Andrew Noble went to the free throw line with the Rocks tied 28-28. Calm, cool and collected, he knocked both down to give the Rocks a two point lead. After a Carmel timeout, Carmel knocked down a 3 with 8 seconds left to give the Hounds a 1 point lead. There was no panic in the Rocks as Noble immediately inbounded the ball to Ashton Reid who went coast to coast and fought through some contact for a tough finish to give the Rocks a one point lead as the buzzer sounded. There was an additional 1.4 seconds added to the clock, but the boys locked up one more time to close out the Keystone Clash. The Rocks were led by Kaleb Brown with 11, Max Vandegriff with 9, Andrew Noble with 6, and Ashton Reid with 4. The Freshman Rocks are back in action Monday night against Zionsville.
