Wrestling Finishes 2nd at Shamrock Duals

The Rocks hosted one of the toughest dual tournaments in the state this weekend and went 4-1 finishing 2nd out of 16 teams. In pool play Westfield knocked off Yorktown 47-21 in Round 1 and Norwell 40-30 in Round 2. The Rocks had a gutsy win against Mt. Vernon in round 3 coming back to win their last 2 matches by fall and secure the team win 40 - 33. In the semi-finals the Rocks wrestled their best dual of the year, beating previously unbeaten Lawrence North 49-26. That momentem wasn't quite enough to carry a win into the finals, as the rocks fell to #6 Carmel to take 2nd place. The Rocks has 3 undefeated wrestlers. Senior Eli Frei had 3 falls and a Major Decision to add to his 5-0 record on the day. Not to be outdone, Chase Camire also had 3 falls on his way to 5-0. Ike O'Neill was battle-tested this weekend to go 5-0. He had 2 top-20 wins over Aiden Kiner from Mt. Vernon and a dominate 11-4 win over Carmel's #7 Nayl Sbay. The Rocks are back on the mat this Wednesay (12/7) at home vs #10 Warren Central.
