This past Saturday, your freshmen Shamrocks football team played host to the Avon Orioles. The offense continued their dominance from last week to start the game, grinding out almost half of the first quarter with a drive capped by an Elliott Clevenger touchdown run. Avon responded with a 24-play drive of their own, however, the Rocks D made a fourth down stand in the red zone to preserve the lead. The rest of the first half was back and forth, but the Rocks had some tremendous execution and clock management to end the half with a short field and a quick touchdown, extending the lead to 14-0. From then on, the defense took over the game. Every time Avon threatened throughout the second half, the Shamrocks defense slammed the door shut in an emphatic fashion. The Orioles were unable to get back to the red zone the rest of the game, and the shutout lifted the Rocks to 5-2 on the year. The freshmen Rocks will look to make it two in a row next Saturday when they make the trip to Fishers to battle the Tigers.
