JV and Varsity Volleyball Split With Mt. Vernon

Varsity: The varsity volleyball team fell to the Mt. Vernon Marauders on Monday night in a tight five-set match. Carsyn Comer finished with 16 kills and 4 blocks. Audrey Bassett added 15 kills along with 9 digs and 3 aces. Kendyl Strack finished with 33 digs and 4 aces. Izzy Jackson and Emily Blevins had 30 and 25 assists, respectively. The Rocks will host the Brownsburg Bulldogs on Thursday. JV: Monday night your JV girls volleyball team found themselves in a real battle with the Mt. Vernon Marauders. Thankfully the Rocks pulled together and overcame a first set loss to rally and win the match in 3 sets by a score of 24-26, 25-21 and 15-8. The win improves the team's overall record to 12-2 and gives them some momentum going into a big conference test against Brownsburg on Thursday night. Ava Rodda continued her strong play at the net with 4 kills on offense and led the team in blocks on defense. Ella Miles had a momentum turning night from the service line where she tied for the most aces on the night and the team scored on 70% of her service attempts. The offensive star of the match was Laynie Holman as she led the team with 11 kills and also had the highest hitting efficiency.
