Westfield cross country hosted the Flashrock Invitational over the weekend as we also celebrated all of our seniors. Even on an extremely warm day, the Rocks still came away with some solid performances in the tough conditions. The varsity race kicked off first as hundreds of runners raced on the course at Northview Church in Carmel. Westfield was able to place 8th out of 18 teams in the team standings in a competitive meet with top teams from Indiana and Michigan. Liv Lozier lead the way for the Rocks running a strong race with her 7th place finish in a time of 18:16. Gianna Ferreri was the next finisher for Westfield placing 42nd in a time of 19:57. Remaining scorers for the Rocks in the varsity race included Mackenna Condon, Carly Davis, and Jordyn Landrum. The temperature really picked up for the JV race but the Rocks were ready to roll and showed it! Westfield placed 2nd as a team in the 16 team field behind some strong pack running once again. The Rocks had a 1-5 split of 19 seconds that saw all 5 scorers for Westfield place in the top 23 of the race. Maryn Babb and Izzy McCulloch lead the way for the Rocks placing 12th and 13th respectively. Claudia Southworth (17th), Lyla Osborn (22nd) and Eliana Colon (23rd) rounded out the scoring for Westfield closing the door on the way to the runner-up team finish. Thank you to all our seniors who have given their time and dedication to the Westfield cross country programs for the last four years! We are looking forward to the rest of the season and beyond for you all. Next up, the Hoosier Conference Crossroads championships at Noblesville on September 28th. Go Rocks!
