The Shamrocks headed to the Ben Davis Invitational over the weekend and saw a 5th place finish in the varsity race and the JV team rounded out the day with a team victory! In the varsity race, Sam Plummer lead the way for the Rocks placing 24th in a time of 21:16. Claudia Southworth was the next finisher from Westfield placing 30th overall and tying her personal best time of 21:41. Remaining scorers for the Rocks in the varsity race included Maryn Babb, Izzy McCulloch, and Lyla Osborn. In the junior varsity race, the Rocks came away as team champions while dominating the field placing 8 runners in the top 20! Westfield won with 50 points just ahead of Brebeuf and North Central who tied for 2nd with 55 points. Jill Ewing lead the Rocks with one of the few PRs on the day in a fantastic race placing 3rd in 22:31. Cecilia Schmidt was the Rocks 2nd finisher in the race placing 9th in a time of 23:16. Remaining Westfield athletes that finished in the top 20 include Zoe Burgei, Brooke Bognar, Carly Herring, Ava Brandau, Kiernan Harrington, and Delaney Curtis. Congrats to the JV squad earning a well deserved team victory in their race! The Rocks will be competing next at Northview Church in Carmel on September 21st as we host the Flashrock Invitational.
