Back in July, Westfield cross country went to Indiana Wesleyan University for our annual Team Camp week. Over the weekend, Westfield headed back to IWU and an all too familiar course for the Marion Invitational and they absolutely ROCKED! Starting in the varsity race, Westfield placed 4th as a team in a competitive field featuring the top two teams from the state meet a year ago. Personal Records (PR's) were a theme of the day and sophomore Liv Lozier got the Rocks started with a 5th place finish in a new PR of 18:08. Westfield also had all their top 5 scorers finish in under 20 minutes and earned medals for top 35 finishes with Mackenna Condon placing 28th, Gianna Ferreri placing 29th, Ella Bozarth placing 32nd, and and Sam Foster 34th. Other Westfield runners earning new PR's from the varsity race included Jordyn Landrum (20:04), Carly Davis (20:15), Ena Durbin (20:20), and Lina Abriani (20:23) The JV squad kept the "PR Train" rolling in a race that included a lot of strong racing and pack running on their way to a 2nd place team finish. Sophomore Sam Plummer made a strong move midway through the race and never looked back as she moved up ten spots in the last 2 miles to finish 4th overall in a new PR of 21:06. The Rocks next 7 runners all finished in the top 20 and held a time gap of 39 seconds between the 2-7 runners showing the great pack running that occurred for Westfield in this race. Westfield athletes finishing in the top 20 included Lyla Osborn (7th), Maryn Babb (13th), Eliana Colon (14th), Vivienne Lyon (15th), Olivia Barnett (17th), Claudia Southworth (18th), and Maddie Samreta (19th). Many of those in the top 20 and more in the remainder of the race came away with PR's on what was a fast day for the JV squad! Westfield will be in action again next weekend competing in the Ben Davis Invitational on September 14th. Go Rocks!
