Last night, your Rocks hosted the Franklin Central Flashes, earning a 24-13 victory. The win wraps up the regular season, with the Rocks finishing with a 6-3 record (5-3 HCC). In conference play, Westfield locked down solo possession of the 3rd place slot. The Shamrocks started on D for this one, coming up with an opening drive stop. Cole Ballard then found Mikeah Webster on the first Shamrock drive for a touchdown (Brody Boehm kick). The Rock D came up big on the next Franklin Central possession, engineering a takeaway. Casey Graybill tipped the ball to Tyler Dikos for an interception. Dikos had the ball punched out, but Andrew Lieske was nearby and scooped it up for the defensive score (Boehm kick). The Flashes would score on their next drive to bring things back to a one-score differential, but Ballard found Parker Knott on the next Shamrock drive for a long catch-and-carry. Knott dove into the endzone to cap off a 21-point first quarter explosion from the Rocks (Boehm kick). The 21-7 score would hold all the way to halftime, as both teams traded punts without much offensive success for the bulk of the second quarter. Westfield received the ball to start the second half, but was unable to manufacture a score. Franklin Central did put together a scoring drive, trimming the lead to 8 after a blocked PAT. A horizontal rain began blowing through the stadium at this point, and Boehm used it to great advantage on the next Shamrock drive, drilling a 44-yard field goal and padding the lead back to two scores. With the weather becoming a challenge, the Rocks took a 24-13 lead into the fourth quarter. Both teams struggled to move the ball, and the Rocks eventually slammed the door on any ideas of a Franklin Central comeback when they sacked the quarterback of the Flashes twice to take over on downs. Westfield was then able to kneel things out, securing the 24-13 final. The Rocks will have a week off before travelling to Carmel to face the Greyhounds in the first round of tournament play. Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm.
