It was a great day to be a Shamrock as Westfield girls cross country raced to two team victories at the Plainfield Relays at Swinford Park. The relay style meet saw both varsity and JV squads sweeping team and individual titles on the way to a day full of fantastic performances. In the varsity race, run as a 6x1 mile relay event where teammates were paired up in a "Hokum Karem" relay style race, the Rocks top duo of Sophomore Liv Lozier and Freshmen Mackenna Condon were victorious in their efforts and were the fastest pair in the entire field racing to a time of 35:36 to cover the 6 miles. In the team race, the Rocks were able to put the top 3 pairs in the top 5 with all 5 pairs in the top 12 of the meet. The other two scoring pairs for Westfield were Gianna Ferreri and Ella Bozarth, and Sam Foster and Maggie Naas placing 4th and 5th respectively. Remaining pairs in the varsity race for the winning Westfield team included Emily Loiselle and Carly Davis, and Lina Abriani and Ena Durbin. The JV race saw much of the same as the varsity race as green jerseys took up a majority of the top spots on their way to the team title. Junior Jordyn Landrum took control of the race late to win the 2 mile race in a time of 12:51. Olivia Barnett was the Rocks 2nd finisher placing 3rd overall in a time of 13:29 in a great race continuing a strong start to her season. Remaining Westfield runners that placed in the top 10 of the JV race included Lyla Osborn (4th), Eliana Colon (5th), Izzy McCulloch (6th), Sam Plummer (7th), Claudia Southworth (8th), and Charlotte Isaacs (10th). The Rocks had a total of 15 athletes place in the top 20 of this race showing our great team depth! Westfield will continue the season by competing in the upcoming Hamilton County Championships on August 31st at White River Elementary in Noblesville. Go Rocks!
