Seven members of the Westfield Track and Field team competed in the IHSAA Track and Field Championships on Friday, May 31, and walked away with one unexpected result, one very much expected result, and several great performances. Alex Hamilton, who spent most of the season recovering from a leg injury, matched her one foot PR from the Regional, and ended up in a tie for 9th place, securing an improbable medal in the pole vault. Meanwhile, Lucy Hauser finished off her stellar high school career with a great finish in a very close 300 meter hurdles race, running just .03 off her all time best, and finishing as the 3rd best 300 hurdler in the state of Indiana. Gracie Czubik also matched her all-time best--a very difficult thing go do in your first state meet--in the high jump, and had a great experience to build on in future state meets. The 4x400 of Maggie Naas, LeBraya Warren, Jordyn Landrum, and Lucy Hauser ran their best time of the year, and finished just one second out of the medals, and freshman Alivia Lozier got her feet wet competing in the first of what will surely be many state meet experiences for her. Lucy will be back in action next Saturday, competing for the Indiana All Stars at Marian University before taking her considerable talents to Liberty University. The rest of the girls will all be back next season to build on their state meet experiences.
