Lauren Arehart collected three hits in five at bats, as the Shamrocks defeated Carmel 9-2 on Friday. Arehart singled in the first inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the seventh inning. The Shamrocks added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Delaney Balsbaugh scored after tagging up, and Arehart grounded out, each scoring one run. Balsbaugh stepped in the circle for the Shamrocks. The starting pitcher gave up only four hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out two. The Shamrocks collected 16 hits in the game. Elaina Bottorff led Westfield with five hits in five at bats. Vawn Horstman, Balsbaugh, and Alyssa Ayers each collected multiple hits. Ada Stach played solid defense. Stach had the most chances in the field with four plays at second base.
