The Westfield girls track and field team finished 5th in the Hamilton County meet last night in its final tune up before next week's sectional. Despite moving people around in the line up to get a last look at sectional possibilities, there were many fine performances in the evening. As she has all season, Lucy Hauser shone as she was county champion in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles. The 300 hurdle time of 44.23 was a personal best for Lucy, she broke her own county record en route to tying as the high point scorer in the meet. Liz Smith cemented herself as one of the finest distance runners in the state, winning the 3200 by 12 seconds at 10:58.29, garnering another county championship for the Shamrocks. Gracie Czubik continued her breakout season winning the county in the long jump and scoring in three events, also pulling points in the 200 and the high jump. The three relays all scored for the team. The 4x800 of Jordyn Landrum, Alivia Lozier, Ena Durbin, and Lina Abriani finished 4th, as did the 4x400 of Maggie Naas, LeBraya Warren (who ran an all-time best split), LeAsia Warren (who also ran a PR), and Landrum. The 4x100 of Warren, Warren, Abbi Van Bibber (back from injury) and Josie Vondersaar finished 6th in the meet. Alivia Lozier was the athlete who was perhaps most affected by the weather-related changes to the meet which eliminated trials, radically shortening the time between her 4x800 and 1600. Despite essentially going from one event right into the other, she ran an incredible 5:13.64. Other point scorers for the Shamrocks included Lauren Linville in the 100 hurdles, Claire Weddige in the 100, Ella Bozarth in the 1600, Katelyn Eblen in the 400, Emily Loiselle in the 3200, Jada Henson in the shot put, and Paige Lemieux and Alex Hamilton, both in the pole vault. The girls are back in action next Tuesday evening in the HSE sectional, which will be held at Fishers High School this year.
