Varsity Baseball Advances to 8-1

The Rocks traveled to Brownsburg Friday night to close out their HCC series with the Bulldogs. Westfield jumped out to the lead in the first with a run but the Bulldogs took the lead in the second. In the 5th inning, the Ricks took the lead only to have the Dogs tie it up in the bottom half. Then the Rocks exploded for five runs in the 6th and 7th to win 9-5. Preston Tamm started and earned a no-decision with 3.2 innings pitched while allowing three earned runs on three hits and striking out six. Nathan Bodenberg, Jackson Blevins and Brayden Hibler each pitched an inning of relief. Offensively, the Rocks hammered out 14 hits on the night. Matt Drozlek was 2 for 4 with two doubles and three RBI. Lincoln Hoffman was 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI. Beck Jordan was 2 for 4 with a double and Ty Gentry was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI. Nick Fero and Ian Wilson each added two hits as well. The win gave the Rocks their second series sweep in a row and has them at the top of the HCC race at 4-0. Westfield is now 8-1 and ranked 9th in the IHSBCA poll, 12th in the PBR Poll and 3rd in Maxx Preps. The Rocks will now host top ranked Carmel on Monday at 6p.
