JV White Baseball Shuts-Out Flashes

A Shut-out run rule victory for The Westfield Shamrock JVW team. The Shamrocks swept the Franklin Central Flashes Thursday evening 12-0 with the help of a dominant performance on the mound by Evan Govert. Govert started on the mound for The Shamrocks going 4 innings, allowing 0 runs, on 1 hit, with 8 strikeouts. Cameron Nelson came in relief for 1 inning and allowed 0 runs on 1 hit and no walks. The bats were also on fire for The Shamrocks as they collected a total of 13 hits on the day. Kasen Jessup went 2 for 2 at the plate with 1 rbi and 2 stolen bases. Brady Bafia went 2 for 2 at the plate with 4 RBIs. Robbie Brandenburg went 2 for 2 at the plate with 2 RBIs. Landon Campbell went 2 for 2 at the plate with 2 RBIs. Maddox Novotny, Graham McDonald, Reid Dikos, Sam Flickinger, and Aiden Trevino each collected 1 hit for the day. When asked about how the season is going so far Coach Espinosa stated, “This group has put in a ton of work in the offseason and you can tell it’s starting to pay off. They understand the little things and that’s important for players to know at this level. When you do the little things well, big things can happen.” The Shamrocks have put up an impressive 36 runs in 3 games and only given up 7 runs. They have collected a total of 38 hits and 29 stolen bases as well. The Westfield Shamrocks JVW are 3-0 heading into Spring Break and look forward to rest and taking on Brownsburg at home on Wednesday April 10th at 6pm.
