On Saturday, October 24th, the boys cross country team finished 3rd at the Franklin Community Regional and advanced to the State Finals for the first time in over a decade. The boys were led by Nathan McKeever's 14th place finish and All-Regional performance. Joining him as scorers: Luke Moulder (26th), Bryce Pittman (29th), JP Mikels (30th), and Brayden Cring (46th). Carson Ackley (67th) and Deagan Imel (96th) rounded out the lineup. Mikels and Cring were especially impressive with their performances. The 2026 team becomes the first team since 2015 to advance to the State meet, and just the fourth team in school history to do so. So many excellent Westfield teams fell short of the State meet, but this collection of athletes has been different all year long. They were able to stay focused and poised despite immense pressure, and got the job done when they needed to. The State finals take place on Saturday, October 31 at LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute. The boys race is at 1:00 pm.
