This past Saturday, your undefeated freshmen Rocks football team traveled to Noblesville for a clash with the Millers. The home team started fast out the gate, putting the rocks down by a touchdown early. Later in the first quarter, Everett Virgona broke loose for a 91 yard touchdown run to even the score. Early in the second quarter, an 18 yard catch and run score by Blake Richardson put Westfield up 13-7. Later in the quarter, with Noblesville driving and threatening to take the lead, a pass tipped by Luc Kaufman was intercepted by Andrew Mendez and returned 52 yards for a defensive touchdown, helping the Shamrocks pull ahead further. A Luke Drow to Damarius Stone 2 point conversion had Westfield out front 21-7. The Millers cut the halftime lead to 8 with a late score, but Virgona started the second half exactly how he started the first, plunging in for his second score of the day and restoring the two possession lead for the freshmen Rocks. After a defensive battle the rest of the third quarter, Drow found a wide open Ben Schmitz for a 22 yard touchdown in the fourth, and the Shamrocks would close out with a 34-19 win. The undefeated freshmen Shamrocks will be back in action next MONDAY at 6:30pm as they play host to the visiting Hamilton Southeastern Royals.
