The Westfield Freshman Football Team faced off against the Fishers Tigers this weekend. The young Rocks got off to a fast start when on the quarterback Ben Kooi connected on a short pass to tight end Logan Robe who proceeded to out run the entire Fishers defense for 58 yard touchdown reception. An Aiden Sullivan PAT gave the rocks an early 7-0 lead. The Rocks defense held strong as Caleb Terril batted away a pass on 4th down to give the ball back to the offense. Action picked back up in the second quarter when linebacker Olu Fapetu recovered a fumble forced by Vince Stutzman. Three plays later, the Rocks found the endzone again on another strike from Ben Kooi to Logan Robe. Touchdown runs by Maddox Novotney and Corey Carter and a pair of interceptions by Robbie Brandenburg and Jayden Averitte sealed the deal as the young rocks picked up their first win of the season by a score of 28-7. The defense was led by the outstanding play of the defensive line who managed to get to the quarterback for 6 sacks! Left tackle Luke Vandegriff led the charge for the offense and kicker Aiden Sullivan was a perfect 4 for 4 on his PATs. The young Rocks will wrap up their season this Saturday as a part of a double-header here at home against Franklin Central.
