The Shamrocks concluded September competition and the regular season competing in the Nike Twilight meet at the famed LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course. A unique meet that takes place "under the lights" in a fantastic meet atmosphere. In the Race of Champions, Westfield placed 10th (8th Indiana team) in an extremely competitive field that consisted of some of the best teams from around the country. Senior Liz Smith continued her strong season with an 18th place finish in a time of 18:16 to lead the Shamrocks. Junior Emily Loiselle raced to a career best as the Rocks 3rd runner in a huge breakthrough race to earn a new PR of 19:32. Remaining scorers for the Shamrocks included Liv Lozier, Maggie Naas, and Gianna Ferreri. The Rocks JV squad showed our team depth in the open races by placing 8th overall as a team with another great 1-5 split of 28 seconds. Maryn Babb continued her hot season as the Rocks first runner with a time of 21:30. Lina Abriani was Westfield's 2nd runner in a time of 21:39. Remaining scorers for the JV team include Lyla Osborn, Cecilia Schmidt, and Olivia Barnett. It was a great conclusion to the season for many of our runners. The season will continue with the JV finale on Wednesday at HSE before we head to the postseason with the Sectional meet on October 14th! We are ready for ROCKTOBER!
