The Rocks opened an HCC doubleheader with the Avon Orioles at Shamrock Field Thursday night. The Rocks led 4-3 through five innings when Lincoln Hoffman broke the game open with a bases-clearing three-run triple to extend the lead to 7-4 en route to victory. Corey Wilhelm started for the Rocks and pitched 4.1 innings, scattering seven hits, two earned runs, three walks, and striking out five to earn his 5th win on the season. James Kovacs pitched 2.2 innings of relief to earn his second save of the season, striking out one, walking one, and allowing an unearned run. Offensively, Lincoln Hoffman was 1-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI. Andrew Noble was 2-for-2 with 2 runs scored and a double. Maddox Novotney was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI as well. The Rocks are now 14-9-1, 9-4 in HCC (2nd).
