Westfield JVW Rocks battled back in a big way Wednesday night, scoring late and pulling away for a 10-6 win over Avon. After falling behind early, the Rocks never quit and exploded for eight runs over the final two innings to take control. Westfield pounded out 10 hits and showed aggressive baserunning all night long, swiping multiple bags and constantly putting pressure on the defense. Jackson Coker sparked the offense with a two-hit performance and scored twice, while Blair Gallienne stayed hot at the plate with two hits, an RBI, two runs scored, and also delivered two scoreless innings on the mound with three strikeouts. Hudson Wade added a key RBI knock and scored a run, Graham Baker collected a hit, stole three bases, and brought energy from the leadoff spot, and Khanon Uribe came through with a huge triple and two RBIs. Cale Amos added a hit, RBI, and run scored, Logan Turner chipped in a hit, RBI, and run, and Luke Campbell drove in two runs to help fuel the late-game rally. Cohen Baumgartner also contributed with a hit and aggressive baserunning, while Landon Schneider scored twice after being hit by pitches and creating havoc on the bases. On the mound, Sean Mitchell got the start and battled early, Wyatt Thayer worked through a tough inning, and then the bullpen completely shut the door. Blair Gallienne tossed two scoreless innings before Ryan Mitchell dominated over the final three innings, allowing no runs and just one hit while earning the win. The Westfield defense and pitching staff combined to hold Avon scoreless over the final four innings as the Rocks finished strong from start to finish.
