The Shamrocks competed at the Hoosier Crossroads Conference Championships over the weekend and came away with their best team performance of the season thus far. The flat, fast course at Brownsburg East Middle school helped produce some great times for the Rocks in both varsity and junior varsity races. In the varsity race, Westfield placed 4th with 111 points behind 3 other top 10 state ranked teams. The Rocks were once again led by the dynamic duo of Liz Smith and Liv Lozier placing 4th and 5th respectively with both running to lifetime PR's. Smith's time of 18:02.24 also broke Gabby Dilick's 5K school record of 18:09 from 2017! The varsity team had their best team time average of the season with the top 5 scorers averaging 19:07. Remaining scorers for the Rocks in the varsity race included Maggie Naas, Emily Loiselle, and Gianna Ferreri. The junior varsity race saw some great performances as well from the Shamrocks who also placed 4th as a team. Lina Abriani led the way for Westfield with her 15th place finish in a season best time of 21:25. Cecilia Schmidt was the Rocks 2nd runner also running to a season best time of 21:34. Maddie Samreta, Claudia Southworth, and Lyla Osborn rounded out the scoring for the Shamrocks as the 1-5 split for the JV race came out to a mere 20 seconds. Congratulations to many runners on personal bests from the Conference weekend. Also, congratulations again to Liz Smith on her new school record! The Rocks will travel to Terre Haute on Saturday for the last meet of the regular season with the Nike Twilight Meet under the lights. Go Rocks!
