Rocks Complete Sweep of Royals

The Rocks hosted the HSE Royals on Friday to wrap up a critical Hoosier Crossroads Conference series. The Rocks, Royals, and Fishers Tigers are all tied for second place in the HCC, one game behind the Noblesville Millers. The Royals scored one in the first and second innings, but the Rocks scored two in each inning, holding a 4-2 lead after two innings. HSE scored one run again in the top of the third before Westfield blew the game open with a five-run third inning to make the score 9-6. They would cruise to a 12-5 victory and remain in a tie with Fishers for second place as the Tigers won as well, and the Millers defeated Brownsburg to remain in first place and up one run in the HCC Race. Aiden Grabowski started on the mound and pitched four innings, allowing six hits and just two earned runs. Sam Flickinger pitched one inning of relief, striking out one, Clayton Walther pitched an inning of relief allowing just one run and striking out one, and Logan Robe pitched an inning of scoreless relief, walking one, striking out one. Offensively, the Rocks pounded out 18 hits in the game. Lincoln Hoffman was 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBI, and a stolen base. Nick Fero was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI. Aiden Grabowski was 2-for-3 with two RBI, and Gavin Russ was 3-for-5 with two doubles and 3 RBI. Westfield is now 13-9-1 (8-4 in HCC) and will travel to Indiana Wesleyan to play Fort Wayne Carroll on Monday in a neutral-site game.
