Westfield track and field concluded the regular season, competing at the Hamilton County Championships on Tuesday, and came away with a second-place team finish. The night saw many outstanding performances, including a new school record for the Shamrocks! The highlight of the night came from the 300-meter hurdles race as Katelyn Eblen placed 2nd in the event, and in the process broke the school record in the event with a time of 44.21, besting Lucy Hauser's old record of 44.23 from 2024 by a mere 0.02 seconds. This is the second school record that Eblen has been part of this season, after being on the indoor 4x400 school record relay from the HSR finals. The only event champion for the Rocks also came from the hurdling crew as freshmen Jenna Rhodes won the 100 hurdles in a time of 15.55. Rhodes also PR'd in the 300 hurdles, running 45.95 to break 46 seconds for the first time. Westfield had 3 other events place runner-up on the evening. Ella Jenkins placed 2nd in pole vault, matching the state's best vault this outdoor season at 13'0", Gracie Czubik placed 2nd in high jump at 5'2", and Emma Pitney placed 2nd in the 3200 in a new PR of 11:07, which now ranks 7th in school history. Other scorers for the Rocks at County included the 4x800 relay of Hayley Pitney, Jordyn Landrum, Gianna Ferreri, and Ella Bozarth, LeBraya Warren in the 100, Jenna Burns in the 1600, the 4x100 relay of Czubik, Rhodes, Addy Busch, and Izzy Brady, Jenna Moulder and Maggie Naas in the 400, Mackenna Condon and Sam Foster in the 800, Addy Busch and Moulder in the 200, the 4x400 relay of Eblen, Landrum, Naas and Czubik, Jolie Miller in high jump, Sophie Croft in long jump, and Fiona Farrar in discus and shot put. It was a great end to the regular season for the Shamrocks with a second-place team finish in the county meet. Westfield will begin the postseason on Tuesday, May 19th, at HSE in the sectional round of the IHSAA tournament. Let's Go Rocks!
