Varsity Baseball Completes Sweep of Eagles

The Rocks traveled to Zionsville to complete a pivotal HCC series with the Eagles. The game was a pitchers duel early and the Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the 3rd inning but the Rocks answered right back with a run in the top of the 4th inning. In the 5th, Westfield went up 4-1 but eh Eagles took advantage of a few Rocks errors to tie the game back up at 4-4. In the top of the fifth, Nick Fero started the inning with a solo home run and the Rocks added a second run in the innning to take a 6-4 lead. The Rocks slammed the door shut in the 6th and 7th innings to secure the win. Aiden Grabowski started for the Rocks and threw well, pitching three innings, allowing just one hit and no earned runs while striking out three. Sam Flickinger pitched 1.1 innings, allowing 1 hit, no earned runs and striking out three. James Kovacs earned the win, pitching 2.2 innings and allowing two hits and no runs while striking out one. Offensively, Aiden Grabowski was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBI while Beck Jordan was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Maddox Novotney was 2 for 3 and Andrew Noble was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Gavin Russ added a hit and an RBI as well. The win puts the Rocks at 11-8-1 (6-4 in HCC) and just one game back from HCC leading Noblesville and HSE with four games to play in conference.
