Westfield competed on Wednesday in the HCC championships after a weather rainout postponed the meet a day. The result was worth the wait as the Shamrocks placed 3rd as a team and had many great individual performances along the way. Westfield's third-place team finish is the highest in the last 10 seasons, and the Rocks' point total of 81 is also the most in that same time frame. The Shamrocks scored in 14 out of the 16 events on the night and also had two event winners. The 4x800 relay team set the tone for the night as the squad of Mackenna Condon, Jenna Burns, Emma Pitney, and Jordyn Landrum got the Rocks off to a hot start by winning the 4x800 relay in a time of 9:24. Ella Jenkins was the second event champion for Westfield on the night after winning the pole vault with a leap of 11'6". The Shamrocks had many events place in the top 5 to add to the high scoring team total. Katelyn Eblen placed 2nd in the 300-meter hurdles in a new PR time of 45.49, which also now sits 2nd all-time in school history. Melody Lowry placed 4th in the 400 in a time of 1:01.24 to score some big points, and also came back later to score in the 200, placing 7th. Emma Pitney came back in the 1600 to also place 4th and score more for the Shamrocks. Jordyn Landrum had a good double of her own to place 4th in the 800 in a time of 2:19, earning more points for Westfield. Jenna Burns came back in a second event as well to score big points, placing 5th in the 3200 in a time of 11:12. Gracie Czubik placed 2nd in the high jump to score big for the Rocks with a jump of 5'4". The 4x400 team of Jenna Moulder, Jenna Rhodes, Maggie Naas, and Czubik placed 4th to clinch 3rd place in the team standings, needing to beat Avon in the relay to secure third place in the meet. Other scorers for the Rocks on the night include Rhodes and Eblen in the 100 hurdles, Condon in the 1600, the 4x100 relay team of Rhodes, Czubik, LeBraya Warren, and Izzy Brady, Moulder in the 400, Addy Busch in the 300 hurdles, Fiona Farrar in discus, Lia Ricke in long jump, and Jolie Miller in high jump. It was a very successful night for Westfield in what has been an incredibly successful season for girls' track and field. The Shamrocks are back in action on Saturday, where many athletes will conclude their seasons at the Carmel JV Invite. Let's Go Rocks!
