Westfield fell to Brownsburg 7-4 on Friday at Brownsburg High School. The Rocks were the first to get on the board in the first when Lincoln Hoffman grounded out, scoring one run. They then added one run in the third on a Maddox Novotney ground out, making the score 2-0.Evan Govert later singled in a run to increas the lead to 3-0 before Brownsburg jumped into the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning scoring five runs. Gavin Russ hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the sixth for the Shamrocks to pull within a run before the Bulldogs answered with two runs to make it 7-4. The Rocks threatened in the 7th with a walk and a single to start the inning but couldn't plate any runs. Aiden Grabowski pitched well, but took the loss for Westfield. The pitcher went four and one-third innings, giving up five runs (three earned) on six hits, striking out three and walking one. James Kovacs pitched 1.2 innings of relief allowing just one hit and striking out one. Gavin Russ, Reid Dikos, Andrew Noble, Evan Govert, and Collin Kern each collected one hit for Westfield. Russ, Govert, Novotney, and Hoffman each drove in one run for the Rocks. Westfield falls to 5-4-1 (3-1 in HCC play) with the loss.
